You have been “Marked”

It’s been more than 2 years that I found myself of the steps of Marked yet again; this time around with a bigger group.

As you walk past Marked, you cannot help but acknowledge the vibrant vibes of the restaurant. With a classy indoor seating and a bar that opens up to the patio, along with music ready to blow the roof off, Marked is one of those places you want to visit when you want to feel those high vibes.

Outdoor bar and patio

While there were a number of drinks and dishes ordered at the table, I will be sharing what I ate and drank and throw in some photos of the amazing cocktails my friends had.

The menu is substantially South American food. I cannot pin point to a specific country as the menu has options ranging from Ceviche to fried chicken to Argentinian Empanada, Shrimp A la Parilla etc.

Since it was late at night and I was pretty hungry, I went in directly for the main and opted for the Fried chicken. For the non-alcoholic cocktails (or mocktails), I opted for Yu-Can’t Slam.

Fried Chicken

The fried Chicken is deep fried boneless pieces of Chicken with seasoned Cassava flour and a Brazilian spice blend as is served with Sweet Pepper sauce and Buttermilk ranch. The magic of the dish is in its simplicity. Its a straightforward fried chicken with the right amount of juiciness and tenderness of the Chicken, along with the perfect crispyness and crunch. The dips are nothing but an add on to the beauty that this fried Chicken is.

I must add that the serving is pretty big and 2 pieces of these huge pieces of Chicken are more than enough to satisfy your cravings and fill your tummy at the same time.

Yu-Can’t Slam

Next on is the mocktail Yu-Can’t Slam, which is Seven Giants Reposado, Watermelon, Basil, Lime and Fire Ticture. The mocktail for me was above average, however I would love to try something else next time around. It was a mix of tanginess with a hint of bitterness and small kicks of sweetness in between.

What I did appreciate about the mocktail was that it wasn’t a half-hearted effort to serve a mix of 2-3 juices and sell it at a ridiculous price. That’s a common issue we see at restaurants where cocktails are elegantly designed for the masses yet the mocktails are completely overlooked. That is not the case at Marked. There might be only a handful, say about 5 mocktails on the menu but all of them have been paid attention to.

I would also like to highlight the fact that the drinks menu at Marked is probably one of the best ones I have come across. There are plenty and I mean plenty of drinks to choose from. Below are some of the Group cocktails my friends tried and they were impressed by both of these fancy yet delicious drinks.

Fifth Element

Fifth element is a mix of Tanqueray Gin, El Gobernador Pisco, Sombra Mezcal, Amaro 33, Lillet Blanc, Lemon Acid, Jalapeño, Lapsang Souchong, Mint, Rosemary, Star Anise, Ginger, Cucumber Water, Palo Santo, Orange and Juniper Bitters.

Eye of the Shipwreck

The second group cocktail was Eye of the Shipwreck, which is Bacardi Ocho, Manzanilla, D’Apricot, Cocchi Americano, Amaro 33, Honey, Genmaicha, Lemon, Cinnamon, Licorice Root, Celery Bitters. I got a chance to take a photo only after half of the drink was already consumed.

I have visited Marked previously in September 2021 and I would say that not much has changed when it comes to the quality of food being offered, the service and the drink menu. I would not second guess my decision to visit Marked again.
